The Cabrillo got its name from Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, a Spanish explorer who, research indicates, was one of the first Europeans to reach Oregon. The Cabrillo marks Burnside Knives' first expedition into the cutlery industry. This compound hollow ground, recurved shape blade makes for excellent slicing. The handle is a smooth G10 over stainless steel liners ergonomically shape for medium to large size hands. The thumbramp on the handle and the blade are both properly jimped and the pocket clip is reversible for tip-up right or left hand carry.

Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo (1475-1543) was a Spanish explorer who led the first Spanish expedition to explore the west coast of the United States. The blade shape of The Burnside Cabrillo is loosely inspired by Spanish helmets designs of the day.
